How do you change the date format in Mail on iCloud.com?

I can't find a way to change the date format (or language / region preferences) in iCloud settings that will affect Mail. And there is no community solution or KB article anywhere I can find.

You can change the iCloud.com Calendar app date format preference but it doesn't impact Mail and neither does AppleID.apple.com settings. It remains the incorrect and rarified US date format. (Did you know it's only used primarily by 4.6% of the world's population?)

Mail on iCloud.com defaults to US date format with no clear way to change it.

Does anyone have an idea?

Ok, it's your web browser language settings which controls the date formatting.

Google Chrome ignores the operating system language/date/region settings and enforces its own. To change the date format, check your browser's language isn't set to U.S. English. (This will apply to Chrome based web browsers and possibly others)

Safari inherit's the OS language settings so check System Settings for your keyboard and language preferences if things aren't displaying correctly.
