New iPhone “dies” then comes back on perfectly fine a few seconds later

I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro, mostly because my iPhone X was starting to give out on me due to old age. I have only had this phone for about 3 months, not a long enough time for much deterioration on the phones battery.

Today is the first day this problem has happened, however it had already happened twice.

My iPhone 14 Pro will randomly freeze for a second when I’m mid doing something on it, flash the dying screen, the one with the little loading looking ring, turn black, then a split second later my AlwaysOn lock screen shows up displaying in the upper right that my iPhones battery percentage is in the red, and then another second later my lock screen flashes brighter as if I just picked up my phone and the battery display will be back to the charge it was at before it did this weird thing. It happened once when my battery was at 85% and again when my battery was at 73%, I don’t know if that means anything though.

Has anyone else had this happen to their iPhone? Is this some sort of bug with the iPhone 14s? What are the fixes, if there are any? If this keeps occurring would the Apple Warranty cover it or do I need to go thru Apple Care or phone insurance?

Two basic troubleshooting steps to perform (test after each attempt):

A) Try a "forced" restart of your device using these instructions: put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, try a "forced" restart of your iPhone, using these gestures:

Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).

B) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue still persists, it could be a hardware (battery? screen? other internal component?) failure and, since your device is still covered by warranty, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
