TCL Roku will not play AppleTV!

My TCL Roku will not play AppleTV! I have reset, uninstalled and reinstalled it. It will play on all my other devices over the same internet connection. When I change the internet connection on my TV it will play. So is this a TLC, Xfinity, or AppleTV problem.

Hopefully by now you've figured out the issue with TCL Roku TV and AppleTV App.

If not, I had a similar problem. AppleTV app had been working with my configuration for over a year and then suddenly stopped streaming and the "Video not available" error was displayed. AppleTV app was accessible on iPad and iPhone in my network and other streaming channels worked on the Roku TV.

My configuration uses the Roku Streambar as speakers, not as a streamer (I owned it before buying the TCL Roku TV) because the sound is much better than the built-in TV speakers.

My TV is also configured to "Fast Start" so it really never shuts down, just goes into a sleep mode.

To resolve the issue I "Re-Started" both the Roku Streambar and the TCL Roku TV from the System Menu on the Roku TV.

If you don't have a Roku Streambar, just do a system restart on the TCL Roku TV.

To restart Roku Streambar go to menu: Settings > Remotes & devices > Speakers > Streambar> Restart Streambar

Then to restart the TCL Roku TV go to: System > Power > System Restart

After both restarts, AppleTV app is working and streaming normally.

Hey there tclrokuhelp,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

Just to confirm, when you say that it will play when you change the internet connection on your TV, are you saying that the Apple TV app works as expected when connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If so, then this may indicate a possible issue with your network connection.

While we understand other devices are working as expected on the same network, try restarting your modem and router and test the issue again. This can refresh the network connection with your smart TV, which could help with the unexpected issue you're seeing.

If still having issues, and you've gone through all the steps listed in the 'Related Article' If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app, we would recommend reaching out to your internet service provider to check for any issues on their end.

Keep us updated on the results.

Best regards.
