Duplicating sequences corrupts library

So after this last OS update, FCP has been doing something very strange, when ever I command-d to duplicate a sequence, nothing happens. I do it again and the app errors out and crashes. When I relaunch, I get that dreaded your library is corrupt, please open a backup. This has never happened to me before. The work around is to close the app when ever I need to duplicate a sequence. This is impractical and tiresome. Anyone have this same issue? Any way to fix this? This app is my livelyhood and I need it to be working as normal.

MacBook Pro (M1, 2020)

I was on a call with Apple support, they are stumped too. This happened after the last update. Rather unfortunately, it seems, the only option is to re-install the app. Sort of trying to avoid that, but if I have to, I have to. It just sucks I am in the middle of a project, I'll just have to do the work around a little bit longer.

Reinstalling the app is a nothing. Move it to the trash. Download it from your Purchased page in the App Store. Hold Opt-Cmd as you launch FCP to reset the preferences. Actually, if you haven't already, try resetting the prefs first and see if that fixes it.

@tom Thanks for reminding me on how to reset app prefs, as a long time Apple owner and user (since 1997!) I really should know this by now! Thanks, this has solved my issue. QQ, do we have to reset PRAM on M1 computers? Considering PRAM I think no longer exists?

Figured, really nice to have a system that works from getgo. The M1MAX is the renderless system I have always wanted! Renderless meaning I no longer render my timeline. On rare occasion I have to, usually because if I have any effects work, all that is done in AE, which still lags! Adobe needs to bottom up their apps in ARM64! IMHO. Thanks again, you are the best!

No. The M1 NVRAM is reset every time to start, not reboot, the computer.

What FCP version are you using?

Does this also happen with Shift-Cmd-D?

Create a new admin user. Reboot and login to the new user and test a new library.

Oh wow, that took about 2mins to process, and all my open apps got hidden, strange. It's like a whole new FCP! Love it! So far, so good, I will report back if I still get that issue.
