IPad Mail Follow Up

I have Mail follow-up turned off in my email settings, but I am still seeing sent emails containing questions appearing in my inbox with the option to clear this ‘follow up suggestion’ .

any idea why it is still doing this?

J_R_D,

Sorry for the confusion there. In this case you can take a look at your Siri suggestion settings to make sure everything is set appropriately. Here's a resource to help with that: Siri Suggestions on iPhone - Apple Support

We also recommend keeping the device up-to-date when possible. Here's how:

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install."

You can read the full resource here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you continue to have an issue with this you can reach out for additional support here: Get Support

Take care.

Hi there J_R_D,

Got it, thanks for letting us know. To confirm, is your iPad fully up-to-date? We want to ensure that it is as sometimes updating iPadOS may help resolve issues.

Another step you can take to try to resolve this is to backup your iPad, then delete the Mail app and then reinstall the Mail app. This will allow you to download a new version of Mail onto your iPad, which may fix this if the issue is within the app itself. If needed, the steps below show how:

"Remove apps

Do any of the following:

  • Remove an app from the Home Screen: Touch and hold the app on the Home Screen, tap Remove App, then tap Remove from Home Screen to keep it in App Library, or tap Delete App to delete it from iPad.
  • Delete an app from App Library and Home Screen: Touch and hold the app in App Library, tap Delete App, then tap Delete. (See Find your apps in App Library on iPad.)

If you change your mind, you can redownload apps you’ve deleted."

Those steps are from this article: Remove apps from iPad - Apple Support If the issue continues after redownloading the Mail app again, then from there you can contact Apple Support for further assistance. You can reach out with the following link: Contact - Official Apple Support

Best wishes.

Greetings J_R_D,

Since disabling those suggests in Mail > Settings, please be sure that you have quit the Mail app and restarted your Mac.

Quit apps on Mac
• To quit an app, choose App Name > Quit App in the menu bar. For example, choose Preview > Quit Preview (or press the keyboard shortcut Command-Q).

Keep in mind that if you click the Close button in the top-left corner of an app’s window, the window closes, but the app remains open (a small dot below the app’s icon in the Dock indicates that the app’s open).

If you have already done that, next we’d like to determine if this is happening in all mail accounts set up on your Mac or if perhaps it happens with specific senders.

Thanks.

Still not working.

I have all setting correct (as far as I can see) and even though I have follow-up turned off. Old sent emails are still appearing at the top of my inbox. The only difference is that it doesnt have the words'Follow Up' next to it. but if I swipe to the left... it says 'Clear Follow up suggestion'
