Running Hot

On Feb 13th I took my Macbook Pro, I purchased in 2019 to Apple store to repair an issue that Apple stated on some MacBook models, mines was included, the keyboard letters are doubling. I took for repair. NOTHING else was wrong with my laptop, just the annoying letter doubling when typing. So, of course they has to send it away for 5 to 7 days to repair this. I work as a mental health crisis counselor and I'm always on alert. I made arrangements with colleagues to cover for those days. It took four days, I picked it up on Feb. 17th. They told me they fixed the problem and they said the battery needed replacement. Okay, no problem. Get it home, had a crisis call while documenting my computer is running loudly then I touch the bottom of it, it's extremely hot, then, it shuts down. Never, in the four years since having my laptop did it ever run loudly, hot, and shut down. So, I take it back to Apple. They tell me my they will update to the latest version and fix the problem. It took a little over 24 hours. I could live with that. Get it home, the laptop was reset to where It looks like a whole new laptop, but the problem still persists. I am still within the 90 day warranty given so it's no charge. But now I have to take it back again, lose money, ask colleagues to cover for me again, because I know they will need to send it away. What if anything can I do to fix this problem. OH, I forgot, before taking it a second time, I chatting with a nice fellow who showed me how to reset the SMC, did that twice. I'm furious because of my work and because I didn't have this issue when I took it on Feb. 13th. What can I do?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.2

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. Unfortunately a passing diagnostic does not mean the hardware is good.

Does the issue happen with a clean install before you installed any third party software or migrating/restoring from a backup?

Also, try booting into Safe Mode to see if you still have the same issues. Safe Mode prevent the automatic launching of third party software during boot & login. If you have any hardware or software requiring drivers, then those items will not function while in Safe Mode.

FYI, anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, and third party security software can cause the laptop to run hot or crash.
