The wallet app is no longer visible on my Apple Watch. It does not show in the list of apps and it does not open when double clicking the side button. In the App Store in the watch it says open instead of install for the wallet but nothing happens. On my iPhone in the watch settings wallet and credit card are properly installed. Can anyone please help?

If it says OPEN then it must be on the Watch somewhere.
Try "Hey Siri open Wallet"
If you still cannot find it, First force restart the Watch
i.e. press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.
Then, although it may seem irrelevant, while it is restarting Force Restart the paired iphone Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)
You may also want to make sure the software on the watch and iphone are both up to date to the same level. Updates are in pairs.

Test it for a while. If it is still misbehaving... Unpair and set up again

and then set up if necessary without restoring the backup - takes about 20 minutes

Make sure you are not using VPN or security apps on the iPhone.
If you've completed that troubleshooting and the issue is still not resolved, Contact Support.

This is really weird. None of the above mentioned hints helped. I unpaired and set up the watch again. Without restoring from backup. I chose the Visa debit card during the installation procedure. Still, there is no wallet app on the watch. Siri says "Sorry. I cannot open Wallet".
on iPhone turn off Screen Time and try again.
Did you remove the passcode or wrist detection?
No, I didn’t.
Yes. Now this worked. I switched off screen time on my iPhone and the wallet app magically reappeared.
I wonder what happens when I switch on screen time again. I will keep an eye on it.

You will have to trawl through Screen Time settings for what is restricting use of Wallet as it will probably restrict it again.
