Mac Mail - Send Later Mailbox MIA

Hi. For the first time today I used the 'send later' feature.

Seemed to work great until I realized I needed to edit one of the outgoing email messages. I can see the one I need to edit because it's the forward of an email that's still available in my inbox.

However when I pull up the email I want to edit, the email can not be changed. I assume because I'm not looking at the actual outgoing email. There is no 'send later' mailbox showing up in my toolbar which is where I'd assume the original, editable email would be found.

So, first, can emails scheduled for 'send late' be edited? If so where do I find them if mac mail doesn't automatically create a 'send later' mailbox.

Thanks for the quick response!

There was no outbox showing up. I do know where to look for it. Often I'd see that mailbox at the very top of my toolbar when I went offline and wrote emails - this was my old school way of 'send later' before it was an official option.

I just tested it and sure enough, I took mac mail offline, wrote an email and hit send. that email is now sitting in my 'outbox' which appeared after I wrote/ sent the test email. The test email is the only one in the mailbox, the three 'send later' emails I wrote earlier this morning are not there.

Any other ideas?

The folder does contain the three emails I wrote this morning and have scheduled for 'send later'.

Unfortunately when I click on any one of them they can't be edited. The scheduled date/time the emails are currently set to send can be changed by an edit button at the top right of each email but the body of the email itself can't be changed/altered.

Is it possible to cancel the send later set time/date, does this return it to Drafts, or Outbox or some such.

Personally I have never used any of those features , so you insight is useful here.

Hi Jack,

When using the "Send Later" feature in Mac Mail, the emails are saved in the "Outbox" mailbox until the scheduled send time. If you need to edit an email that was scheduled to be sent later, you can locate it in the "Outbox" mailbox and make any necessary changes.

Here's how to find and edit an email in the "Outbox" mailbox:

  1. Open Mac Mail and click on the "Mailboxes" button in the top left corner.
  2. Scroll down and look for the "Outbox" mailbox.
  3. Click on the "Outbox" mailbox to view the emails scheduled to be sent later.
  4. Locate the email you want to edit and double-click to open it.
  5. Make any necessary changes to the email.
  6. When you're finished editing the email, click on the "Send" button to schedule it for sending at the new time.

Note that once an email has been sent, it cannot be edited or recalled. So, if the email has already been sent, you won't be able to edit it using the "Send Later" feature in Mac Mail.

I hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Bryce June!

You can always add it to Favorites— use the + drop down, move your mouse to the right side to reveal
