There are a few reasons that your phone would be asking for another Apple ID.
The most likely is an app or purchase was downloaded using her Apple ID. You will need her Apple ID to update it.
Another possibility is that she signed in to it, either because she previously owned it or whatever. Then, she didn't fully erase it before giving it to you.
