How to disable Apple Pay automatically popping up next to an NFC reader?

I have to use a QR code on my phone to board buses during my travel. This QR code is not available to be added to Apple Wallet. Every time I go to scan my QR code, my phone detects the NFC scanner and displays Apple Pay (thus disrupting my QR code from scanning). This is really frustrating and causes delays (oftentimes when there is a long line of people behind me).

Is there any way to disable Apple Pay from popping up automatically? I’d like it to still pop up when I double click my side button

Does anyone know if Guided Access will prevent it popping up?

I have just tested it twice now with Guided Access on and Apple Pay has not popped up. Also just to test if Guided Access can block Apple Pay, I also enabled Guided Access in a shop and put my phone to the card reader device and Apple Pay did not pop up.

So Guided Access may be a solution to this problem. But it probably needs a few more tests from other people to see if it solves it for them. Or has it just been a coincidence that during my tests it has not popped up.

No. In the presence of a NFC reader, the wallet will activate as you can pay with it.
