I am getting a period randomly put in when I type- MacBook 2018-Monterey 12.6.3 is there a fix?

MacBook 13 pro typing random letters characters Hi guys, My macbook 13 pro Retina (early 2015) suddenly is typing random stuff. Like when I press back key it types 'qw' for some reason instead of deleting letters. If I press any key from the bottom row Random letters gets inputted from above rows when I click show keyboard viewer it's shows like this. What could be the problem? I'm running latest monterey update 12.6.7. This is my main laptop. Please help

Random periods I'm quoting from a previous user with the same issue: "I've been experiencing an issue whenever . I type . on my . macbook pro--random . periods . show up between words and sometimes new . sentences . start". This is the help that was offered that was useful at that time to that user: Apple menu > System Preferences > Keyboard > Text (at top of preference window) > Add Period with double-space. However, that user posted in 2019 and my issue has only recently arisen in 2023. Running Ventura 13.2.1. My "system preferences" are now "system settings" and clicking on them gives a different box with no "text" at the top of the keyboard page. Therefore, I'm having trouble applying the help that was provided for the use in 2019 because I'm not seeing any reference to options for periods. Suggestions, please?

Keyboard typing in random characters Hello! I have an older MacBook and haven’t had issues up until lately. First one at a time several keys stopped working. I got an external keyboard and everything was fine. Now all of my keys on my actual MacBook seem to type in foreign characters even though the language preferences are all clearly set to English. My keys will randomly get stuck and type out random characters and it seems to be now affecting my photoshop as well since none of took bar is working as usual. I have a feeling it’s due to the stuck keys. Needless to say it’s been a headache. Is there anyway to fix something like this or disable my MacBook keyboard altogether? Thanks in advance.

Click on About This Mac and tell us what it says about your Mac. MacBook Pro 13" late 2015, etc. The year is important. If you have one of the butterfly keyboards they are notorious for typing issues. Apple reverted back to the scissor keyboard design on newer M1 / M2 Macs.

If you do have a butterfly keyboard you can try cleaning under the keys with a can of compressed air. If any debris gets in there it can cause issues like this.
