iPhone 14 Plus iOS 16.4 Battery Drain

I recently purchased an iPhone 14 Plus and updated it to iOS 16.4. However, since the update, I have noticed a significant decrease in battery life. My phone is draining its battery much faster than before, even when I am not actively using it.

I have tried restarting my iPhone and checking the battery usage stats to see which apps are consuming the most power. I have also disabled background app refresh and location services for apps that I don't use frequently. Unfortunately, these steps have not resolved the issue.

I am reaching out to the Apple community section for assistance in resolving this problem. Has anyone else experienced similar battery drain issues after updating to iOS 16.4? If so, have you found any solutions or workarounds? Apple should take necessary actions. why a trustable company do like this to its customers?

RESOLVED!

I've been dealing with the battery drain issue since upgrading to iOS 16.4. I tried implementing various battery-saving settings. That didn't work. I tried updating to iOS 16.5. No dice. I tried signing in and out of iCloud. Nada.

Finally, I had enough and called Apple Support. This resulted in a three-hour support call where we were able to fix the issue. It appears that iOS 16.4 didn't load properly on my iPhone. We therefore restored my iPhone to factory settings, downloaded iOS 16.5 again, and restored my apps/data from an iCloud backup.

I used these resources to complete the process:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Since going through this process, my battery consumption has more or less returned to what it was before the iOS 16.4 upgrade. Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully. That is, make sure you have an iCloud backup to restore from and that you've signed out of Find My iPhone beforehand.

I hope this method helps all of you.

Nope, 16.5 still drains the battery. I installed it last night. My battery was at 100% at 7 a.m. It is now almost 3 p.m., just 8 hours later, and it's down to 50%. I have Location Services off. I have Screen Time off. I have Background App Refresh off. I have had the phone mostly off today except to take a couple of photos and to check mail and weather and, briefly, Facebook. If I do not charge it for the rest of the day, it will be 100% depleted by 11 p.m.

I restored my iPhone from the factory, 100% battery health I installed iOS 16.5. With 100% charge I left my iphone at midnight and went to sleep, when I woke up at 6am I had consumed 10% of the charge without any use! In iOS 16.3.1 in the same test he lost only 1%.

If yours is an iPhone 14 plus then it won’t have the always on display. Only the 14 pro and pro max will have the always on display.

12 pro. Since updating to 16.4 phone is always a little bit warm. As previous people have mentioned, battery life is a joke now. But this is nothing compared to 21 emojis.

Constant fear of SW update is now a part of iphone users life.

The biggest company in the world, take months to deliver an update that drains the battery, before the day ends on a phone that costs £1500. No battery problem on 16.3. Who is coding this - kids? Who is checking these updates before release ! The start of Apple downfall…

I can understand your frustration with the battery issues on your expensive phone after months of waiting for an update from Apple. However, it's important to keep in mind that software development is a complex process and unforeseen issues can arise even with well-tested updates. Apple has a history of providing regular updates and support for their products, which has contributed to their success in the tech industry. Although the battery issue is annoying, it's not reasonable to assume that it will cause the downfall of Apple. Providing feedback to Apple will help them address the issue and improve their products. I think so and remember one thing Apple is not just a company. They know how make a business profitable.

They most certainly will. My point is battery life is the most important thing now. I simply do not have time to charge throughout the day. I am willing to pay 1,5K not to think about this and expect Apple to make this a priority when releasing new SW. Reality is, in my company there are 50/50 Android and iPhone users and I see only iPhone users carrying powerbanks. This used to be the other way around not so long ago. This is sad.

I bought a new iphone 12, on the same day iOS 16.4 was released I installed it and since then the battery drains very quickly and it is always hot. Now I don't know if it's an iOS 16.4 issue or a defect in my iphone 12

Actually, as of today, the battery is starting to behave a bit better. AT 3:15 p.m. it's only down to 70% after it had been fully charged at 8 a.m. Let's hope that continues or, even better, improves.

My iPhone 8 Plus is just over 5 years old. I like to hang onto things if they work (My Honda CRV has over 100k miles)! Good your battery isn’t draining! Hoping 16.4.1 will kick in and help me. Was at 98% 8:30am today… now at 56% at 5PM. On and off internet and email 3 hours at most. 🤷‍♀️

Hey hey… can be worse, could be better. My “23 hour” battery lasted all day as I did quite a lot of video editing in clips and many emails👌

so far I think it’s maybe about the same to a little better?

Same routine here. Same situation with iPhone 8 Plus that never had battery drain issues. I shouldn’t have to get a new phone because of a bad iOS update!

Do new phones “come with” the latest iOS pre-installed? If so, I may have to switch to Android. 😫😫😫

The new iPhones currently come with iOS 16.3… or mine did at least when I got it a few weeks ago.

don’t transfer from your previous one or it’ll transfer iOS too

try to not transfer settings at least
