iPhone 14 Plus iOS 16.4 Battery Drain

I recently purchased an iPhone 14 Plus and updated it to iOS 16.4. However, since the update, I have noticed a significant decrease in battery life. My phone is draining its battery much faster than before, even when I am not actively using it.

I have tried restarting my iPhone and checking the battery usage stats to see which apps are consuming the most power. I have also disabled background app refresh and location services for apps that I don't use frequently. Unfortunately, these steps have not resolved the issue.

I am reaching out to the Apple community section for assistance in resolving this problem. Has anyone else experienced similar battery drain issues after updating to iOS 16.4? If so, have you found any solutions or workarounds? Apple should take necessary actions. why a trustable company do like this to its customers?

I appreciate your suggestion that the battery drain may be due to behind the scenes tasks that the phone is completing after the update. I will keep an eye on my battery usage over the next day or so to see if it improves.

However, I have also noticed that my phone is draining battery even when it is not in use or in standby mode. I have disabled background app refresh and location services for apps that I don't use frequently, but the battery drain issue still persists.

Do you have any other suggestions for resolving this issue, or is it possible that there may be a hardware problem with my device?

I was at the Apple Genius Bar this morning to reset my iPhone 8 Plus to factory settings. Did everything in the above scenario, using my phone (not computer), under the watchful eye of one of the techs there in case I screwed up. I did remember to back up to iCloud and turned off Find My Phone.

Only thing… iOS 16.5 didn’t need to be reinstalled because either the iCloud restore brought it over or the factory reset did. Everything restored as before, but…

Was at 80% battery when I returned home, used iPhone for 54 minutes and now battery is at 77%.

Is this normal? All I did was check a few emails and hop on internet…(?) 🫤

You might be very disappointed if you move into the Android world.

Granted, they probably don’t have the battery problem that we’re experiencing, but you’ll soon miss Apple’s elegance.

Welcome to the world of tech. We’ve been through this kind of frustration before. Nothing happens quickly. Just keep charging, do all the due diligence stuff; shut down the extras and unnecessary background activities. If you use a VPN, shut it off. Some of them use tons of background battery. Buy a couple of power banks and keep them with you. It’s a good practice in any case.

Hang in there!

Epilogue. No change after trip to Genius Bar and resetting as new/restoring with Mac. No more can be done. Tech said (like previous one did) the newer iOS versions can do so much more, older iPhones have to work harder to keep up. Lesson learned. No more premium gas in my old “cars”. Stick with regular. Good luck, everyone. Good some of you got better results.

ok so i upgraded to the latest ios and it kinda helped with the battery drain. my 14pro now lasts as long as my 11 (with ios 15.7). Both devices get roughly the same use and both are always connected to the wifi and data.

im glad the ios update helped me (might not fix others’ battery issues) because i was literally looking at the s23 ultra the other day and it was looking mighty attractive at the store.

What are the model numbers of the problem phones here? What are the serial numbers? The factory that made the phones in question could have had a problem in the production line causing short-circuiting to occur in power circuitry, which would lead to abnormal draining of the battery and excess heat— hint: that would be a good reason the iPhone 11s, 12s, and 13s don’t have this problem that we know of, and if any, we don’t hear about it as often as we hear of 14 problems.

A factory production line issue would also be a very good reason the Genius Bar etc. doesn’t know and can’t fix the problem.

In that case the blame might be on the factory head honchos, not necessarily on Apple. If enough people tell Apple that a factory is producing bad phones, then Apple might investigate. We already know they don’t intend to produce bad phones, however, some factory higher-ups are careless.

That’s why looking at our serial or model numbers isa good idea because that would tell us factory and date.

My iPhone 14 pro model and serial numbers (I hope this doesn’t violate rules) model:MQ0N3LL/A serial:C2****R9V

Mine does not have a battery drain problem.

This is an opportunity to make Apple better not to abandon them.
