Guides on Apple Maps disappeared after iOS16.4 update

My created guides with saved locations on Apple Maps have disappeared after the update. My Home/Work favorites are still there. I do have maps backing up to icloud turned on. Anyone else have this issue?

Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, and make sure that the toggle next to Maps is turned on. If it is turned off, turn it on and wait for a few minutes to see if your favorites and guides reappear. Check Apple ID: Ensure that you are signed in with the correct Apple ID on your iPhone…..On my settings the toggle button was set to on. So, what I did was >toggled the Maps off >then back on waited a minute then >launched the Apple Maps app and all My Guides reappeared. Hope this helps everyone out with this issue.

My problem is certain places were given to me (to visit and experience) by someone who is no longer here. I had over 20 GUIDES broken down for places all over the USA. Can we go back prior to this update, as in undo it? A consumer warning would have been possibly helpful prior to being wiped out, but not really. I wonder how many people have yet to realize it??? I stick with my original call….this is BS through and through

What if you don't use iCloud? I have religiously turned it off for everything and use a physically separate hard drive for my Time Machine backups. Almost 500 locations saved in "My Places" and now it doesn't seem to exist anymore. If I can't get this back, I'll be going full analog. I hate that iCloud seems to be mandatory now. Why am I not allowed full control of my data storage anymore, APPLE?!

I still only have iOS 16.3 and I've noticed mine are gone too.

I've also tried every suggestion in this thread but no luck (including contacting Apple). This is a really unacceptable thing to happen and they need to find a way to restore our hard-earned collections of places. We depend on them.

Incidentally, I just recently got an Android phone just to get acquainted with their apps for the sake of suggesting good ones I find to my clients, but having all of my guides vanish from Maps makes me want to activate it and stop using iPhones altogether from now on since Apple clearly can't get their act together in yet another way.

About to take a trip and had painstakingly mapped out all the places I wanted to hit, then to find out they’re all wiped out, along with the history of all other trips. I use guides to quickly pull up directions and saves me so much trouble by planning ahead. I like to pull them up and share them when making recommendations too. So sad and frustrated! My settings were already as suggested and I am backed up in iCloud but I double-checked anyway, and all is still good there. I sincerely hope we can get them back!

I’ve lost favorites way too many times including this morning when i noticed the “new” favorites that i spent more time re-adding are gone again and i didn’t even update my OS. now i just assume favorites will be wiped out randomly by apple with no fix or explanation anywhere. also signed in to icloud storage on diff device/laptop/browser to see my icloud favorites hopefully at least stored on icloud but nope nothing there too. like what is the point?! have no choice but to start using google maps.

Frankly, this is yet another way computing and the internet has robbed humanity of its achievements. If I had recorded my location based discoveries ON PHYSICAL PAPER maps, I’d have no vulnerabilities of this kind. Backup would have simply been obtained by making multiple sets & each set of data would have been better than the last because of HUMAN LEARNING while transcribing. Isn’t anyone else tired of looking at these COMPUTER SCREENS? We are both the product and the customer, snakes eating our own tails! Do we blame Apple because we put our trust in a computer company or should we instead blame our own laziness for allowing us to do so?

I have at least 10 guides for different areas of the country, painstakingly created over several years. The guides were there as of July 11th. This morning my iPhone X was updated with a security patch 16.5.1(c) and the guides have disappeared. They were synced to the iCloud and I can still see them on my iPad. How can I best protect that data until a solution is found for the iPhone?

It’s really not that deep bro.. I indeed blame apple for providing a defective product.. there is absolutely nothing lazy about affording the convenience of technology to better our lives in progression to future endeavors.. do you still pull out an atlas to lead you to destinations across the world?

“Would you blame a chef for giving you food poison or would you blame yourself for eating it” would be an equivalence to what you stated above..
