Can an un-updated software disrupt my internet (mobile data) connectivity?

Not having the recent carrier updates might be a reason for that:

MacBook Pro M1 Slow internet on Device only. Running MacOs Sonoma My MacBook Pro M1 is repeatedly showing that my internet is slow running a speed test after I updated to Sonoma. Then I discovered that my iPhone is showing differently, running over 100% of the expected speed results that I should be receiving.
