using photoshop Elements in photos, image reverts to old version

Editing in Photos using Photoshop Elements - After saving, images sometimes revert back to the original image ??

Not all images, but sometimes the same revised image again & again.

When I save I overwrite the original image, but the old one keeps showing up in my photos library & the edited image disappears ??

iMac 27″, macOS 13.1

If you do edits that include layers or changing the extension to .psd you'll have to flatten the image before saving so it's saved with the original extension. Otherwise Photos will not know that the edit has taken place and recognize it.


So when saving check the extension and make sure it's the same as the original file.

I don't use Elements, but I think that you might have to save the image in Elements first. When I use GraphicConverter with "Edit with ...." a new file is created in some private place, and that is loaded into the GC for editing. I do what I will, and I save to that new file that was created. Then I have to tell Photos to accept (save changes) the new file, which is then stored inside the Photos Library package. So there are two "saves." The one in Photos seems very dim until you point the cursor at it:
