Preview - Missing recent places in the where drop down

This Morning I updated to OS 13.3. I file a lot of PDF using the Where drop down in Preview.

After this update, I noticed that the Recent Folders is missing, now it shows "Favorites" then right to "Other...". It used to have Recent Folders between the two. I can not figure out how to get them back.

Using the Where drop down used to save me a lot of time from copying then deleting the files from various servers/external drives or having to use Other... then navigate through the maze of filing structure.

The only place I can find a setting about recents in the System Settings, Finder, or Preview is in System Settings - Desktop & Dock - Menu Bar (this didn't do it), or Finder there is a checkbox for the sidebar (this didn't do it).

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

My mistake! Thanks for pointing out the Option-File combination.

So, we have access to Recent Folders, via Save As.

If I pull down the current file name and location (at the top-center of the Preview window) and choose Other, I get essentially the same chooser window as Save As, and Recent Folders is there.

I still think it would be more convenient for users if Preview's top-center pull-down included a section of Recent Folders.

Yes, if you have a constant set of folders you use regularly, you can add them to the sidebar. However, some of us work with a different set of folders each day. For example, I work on one client's files one day, a different client's files the next day, and a third client's files the day after that. I work on an ever-changing set of folders. Each day it is different. The point of a Recent Places is to keep track of the folders that have been recently accessed, so after the first client file is accessed in a day, Preview keeps track of the folder, so subsequent files in the same folder can be easily accessed. Then, on a day-to-day basis, Preview replaces the folders in Recent Places on a least-recently-used basis.

There is no "Save As" in Preview.

Oh, but there is! Apple chose to remove Save As way back in Mac OS X Lion, then due to much protest brought it back in Mac OS X Mountain Lion, but tried to hide it. So only one major version, 10.7, completely lacked Save As (not just in Preview, everywhere).

By default, you need to hold down the Option key while pressing the File menu to see it.

Or use the shortcut Command-Shift-Option-S

BUT... if you assign the historical shortcut Command-Shift-S to "Save As...", it returns to the File menu as well!
