Unable to login to computer after disabling FileVault

Hello,

Yesterday I disabled FileVault on my 2016 MacBook Pro. Upon its restart, I am no longer able to log into either the admin or secondary user profiles. When attempting to login, the password is accepted, progress bar is displayed for approximately 10 seconds, the screen goes black, briefly flashes the white Apple logo on the black background, then gives me an error message. The message states, “Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait a few seconds to continue starting up.” After either waiting or pressing a key, the screen returns to the login page that is normally displayed after powering on the computer.

I have reset my login password, run First Aid in recovery mode, attempted to restart in Safe Mode (unsuccessfully), and, most recently, attempted to reinstall macOS Monterey in recovery mode. None of these things I have attempted have resolved the issue. When attempting to reinstall Monterey, the computer says that I “may not install to this volume (the only volume) because it is currently being decrypted.” I believe the decryption process was completed, following my disabling of FileVault, but of course I cannot confirm this because I am unable to login to a user profile.

I would like to solve this issue without wiping my hard drive and starting from scratch, so any help is much appreciated.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6
