I updated my iPad to IOS 16.4 yesterday. Today, my App Store updates do not request a password. In the previous version, I always needed a password. My settings are set to always need a password.
When downloading an app, the password is requested as normal. Any clues anyone? Is this a bug?

In the Media and ITunes Purchases, it is set to require a password inside the Apple ID name, in View Account, and the Settings show how quickly I want my password to take effect.

App Store purchases can be configured to always require your AppleID Password.
App updates, for Apps already purchased, don’t (and from recollection never have) require a Password.
You’re in the right place - and the clue is in the wording…
A Password can be required for Purchases - not Updates. 🙂
