Does my text data transfer from old to new phone using Quick Start?

Soon will have new iphone and need to move everything from old to new. The old (6S) has never been fully backed up and do not want to use the cloud. Most important to get onto new phone are: photos, ALL texts and all settings. Can Quick Start accomplish all this?

Hello loopy8,

Using Quick Start to set up your new device will copy many of your settings, preferences, and iCloud Keychain. The photos will not transfer when using Quick Start.

You do have a few different options to ensure the photos move over.

You can complete a full backup of the 6s then restore that backup to your new device. This will move everything from the 6s to the new device. You can learn how to do that here: Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If you do not want to use the full back up from the device, you can turn on iCloud temporarily. Once it is on, you can select what you want to sync with iCloud. For example, photos and messages. Turn everything else off. When you get the new device, that information will move over to the new device. You can learn more about that here: Sync content between your Mac and iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Kindest regards.

???

Ummm...You did not answer the question. To review: When using 'Quick Start' to transfer data from an old iphone to a new iphone are all my text messages transferred? I've read the materials online and it does not answer this question. And to be 100% clear -- I mean all messages, not just iMessages. And since I'm still hoping someone will answer, maybe someone could clarify if any images/videos included in a text message would also be transferred if messages are part of the data transfer.

Would greatly appreciate a simple answer, since it should not be that hard.

Thanks!

Again, question not answered. Again...Plan is to NOT use cloud and phone has not been updated in years nor backed up in years.

So, this is the background of the specific question being asked with the hope that the answer will focus on trying to help me do this as the question lays out. I'm not asking for advice on how I "should" do this. The owner of the phone has their own allowable expectation on how they use their device.

Please don't answer if you can't understand the basis for the question.

Again, thanks to anyone willing and able to answer.

Hello loopy8,

We see you referenced the article Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone or iPad. It's always recommended to backup your iPhone prior to making any changes in order to prevent data loss. If you aren't syncing your photos and messages through iCloud, they should transfer using Quick Start.

This article provides additional methods to transfer your photos:
