Shared calendar problems with two factor authentication

A family member is trying to send me a shared calendar invite with my grandkids soccer games. Because I have two factor authentication, the iCloud requires a six digit security code. However when I respond to that message, the calendar invite goes away.

Can I get rid of two factor authentication on the Apple iOS mail app only? I am assuming this is the problem as no one else in my family seems to be having the problem? My wife and I use two factor authentication for all of our iPhones and iPads.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. The information may help with accepting the invite.

There isn't a way to disable two-factor authentications once it's enabled. Instead of responding to the invite through email address, are you able to accept it by opening the Calendar app > tapping Inbox, and then tapping the invitation?
