A good place to start is to post details so we can effectively help in a setting where we, your fellow end users, can neither see nor touch your tech gear:

  • what Mac desktop computer?
  • what is it's submodel?
  • what maOS version is it running?

All three are quickly available by doing "About this Mac..." from your Apple menu. Example:

The reasons these are important are:

1 — your Safari version is dependent on your macOS version, and

2 — macOS version options available to you are determined by your model AND sub-model.

"Mac desktop" goes back to 1984, so too many possibilities to guess without your help.
