FWIW, locking a file is only meant to prevent accidentally deleting a file.
"To protect documents from being accidentally changed or deleted, you can
lock them. When a document is locked, you receive a warning when you
move it to the Trash. When you empty the Trash, the locked document is
deleted."
yes I know that, but when I try to delete a locked file, it still gets deleted.
For instance, when I delete a folder with only one locked file, all files get deleted.
Are you saying you get no warning? Personally I never lock files so I never notice.
Thanks! Yes, no warning
On my old Macbook, I had to unlock files before I was able to delete them.
There may be a way to change the permissions for a file so it can't be deleted. Personally I don't know what that is but maybe someone does.
yes, that's my gut feeling as well, but I can find where. It might be a user setting?
thanks, but I can't find the answer there
