HELP!!!! monterey 12.6.4 upgrade and internet connection times out every 5-7 seconds

I just upgraded to Monterey 12.6.4 and now, while my computer says Im connected to wifi continuously, the internet connection goes out every 5-7 seconds, and connectivity is dropped.

Ive tried rebooting my mac, the router, turned off the wifi connection for 10 min and then back on.. still the same. Even cheched all the wires. Other devices are working without issue… so Im positive its the upgrade, as the internet connectivity started having issues right after the upgrade. Not using icloud and cant find the relay to make sure its off. Cant get email, websites, vpn cant connect for longer than 5-7 seconds.

any suggestions. This is a work computer… not for gaming. Dont want to upgrade to ventura.

Are you IT support, or do you have work IT support available?

Check with your ISP for any issues or outages there.

If you can wire your Mac directly to the router, try using that wired Ethernet path to connect.

Do you have an add-on first-few-hops VPN client installed? Or any add-on security apps? If so, remove it all per vendor instructions, restart, and try again.

Boot into Safe Mode, and try again: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Hi!

The easiest way to verify the problem (except for previously stated Apple Diagnostics by MrHoffman) is to Reset SMC (as a PRAM, but it isn't related to the problem):

iMac SMC and PRAM reset - Apple Community

And then boot into Internet Recovery Mode: Option-Shift-Command-R

If the problem would persist during IRM load -- an Ethernet cable is an option.
