iOS 16.3.1 Problems with Note and Apple Pencil

Hi, since after having installed IOS 16.3.1 (from iOS 16.5) on my iPad Pro 10.5 I have critical issues with Note and Apple Pencil: after 20/30 minutes of continuous writing (I used it for work - teaching - while connected with Skype sharing the screen) the writing starts to be very very slow, the cut/paste/duplicate function is even more slow but above all, once in a while, Note crashes and when I re-open the written note the last part of the writing is lost.

I contacted Apple Support already but no advice was helpful (reinstall Note, restore iPad). I just downloaded iOS 16.4 and noticed a slightly improvement in the reaction of the pace of writing but still the duplicate function is very slow and Note crash loosing data.

With prior version of iOS everything was working smoothly and perfectly, I want to get back to a workable and efficient writing as before.

Any advice is more than welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

The iPad Pro 10.5”, while still very capable, is beginning to show the limitations of its internal hardware. The A10X CPU and 4GB RAM, that were state-of-the-art in 2017, are now less able to produce the performance capabilities and improvements demonstrated by much newer models of iPad and iPad Pro.

Technically, there is likely very little that can be done to significantly improve demonstrated performance with iPadOS 16.x - other than to actively reduce resource overheads through manually closing Apps that are not in active use. This will help to release RAM to foreground processes - and in so doing help improve available performance.

That said, I have observed substantial changes to resource management within iPadOS 16.4. While system resources now appear to be much more aggressively managed by the OS, overall system performance appears to have been negatively impacted - even for the most recent and most powerful models of iPad. Hopefully a future point-update will restore or improve upon previous performance.
