Touch ID Won't Wake Mac After Ventura 13.3 Update

I know, I know, just highlighting the bug. "simply resting my finger on the Touch ID button" has no affect for me at all as it was previously on macOS Monterey — all worked perfectly on older macOS. Pressing of Touch ID button doesn't log you in automatically the first time, screen just flashes and goes to sleep again. Second try works. If Trackpad tapped to wakeup it from sleep then Touch ID works as expected (with press or without — doesn't matter).

M1 MBP used to wake on lightly touching TouchID when on a lower version of macOS 13.6.6.

Updated to 13.6.6 (22G630), and light touch TouchID no longer wakes MacBook.

What happens when you press down on that Touch ID sensor while the M2 Mac is asleep? Tap once on the Trackpad? Do either gesture bring it out of sleep?

Apple may have deliberately changed that wake on touch feature, it may be a temporary bug introduced on M2 hardware, or Apple may have a new supplier for that sensor which does not support wake on touch. My 2021 M1 MBP M1 Pro (Ventura 13.5.1) does wake from sleep by simply resting my finger on the Touch ID button, or tapping once on the Trackpad.

No Apple product teams participate here so being annoyed is only read by fellow users and we cannot fix the operating system or the hardware. If it is correctable, Apple may have resolved it in Ventura 13.6 when it arrives.

Do you have any "non-standard" software installed? Maybe some development tools? Trying to investigate that thing... I have "sleepwatcher" macOS daemon installed which related to sleep functionality, but I tried to uninstall it -- no effect on original issue.
