Above is correct, with a caveat: You’ll need a USB-C to USB-A adapter with enough power. The Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter does provide enough power for SuperDrive, some third-party adapters do not.

If you mean the latest MacBook Airs the answer is yes but you'll need a USB-A to USB-C adaptor sold separately.
If you mean something else then please elaborate so we don't have to guess.
It can but not through a hub. Connect directly with the noted adapter.
It's fairly old. I tried with a usb to c adapter, but seems to not power up or be recognized.
