So I’ve been having the same issue, I thought my friend I talk to all the time was doing major remodeling. Anyway, I also have Mint, so today I tried turning WiFi calling off and that seems to work, I’ve been on the phone for a few hours and the hammering is gone. Give it a try!

I too hear the rhythmic knocking on wood when on a cell phone call.

It is not static. It is not clicking. I hear it when I'm talking regularly with the phone to my ear, on speaker, and on Bluetooth hearing aids. I get it talking to a different area code. I use T-Mobile. I get it talking via my iPhone SE 2022 to a Galaxy Android. I can hang up and call again and the problem will stop but may crank up again on that new call.

It seems to me to be a network problem. Only I can hear it and not the other party.

Weird that it sounds just like someone rapping/tapping on a wooden table.

Good luck with it.

If I can help you (Apple) in any way to investigate I will.

Here's a little more info. I tested it this evening. I hear it when: The other person is on speaker phone, I've been put on hold, the other person is in their car ( this might be another form of speaker phone), and there is a long pause in the conversation. Basically, the only time it isn't knocking is when I'm speaking directly with someone and there is an ongoing conversation with no gaps longer than about 10 seconds.

yes i just got my iphone 15 pro with tmobile not to long ago and when i call people on speaker phone i randomly get that crap for 5-10 seconds then goes away then comes back and its very annoying.. they also cant hear anything wrong on their side.. people here seem to be having a hard time describing the sound but to me it totally sounds like an analog clock clicking every second. Almost like the sound of a grandfather clock.. either that or someone tapping a stick or a pencil every second on a wooden desk.

I have this problem. I have an IPhone & I had Sprint for probably 18 years before they switched to TMobile. This knocking sound never happened until the switch. It’s a thumping/knocking sound that comes and goes while talking to certain numbers. I always ask the other person if they can hear that noise and they never can. It drives me crazy that I can only hear it on my end. Finally, I got so fed up that I was googling it and my search lead me to this thread.

I am having the same issue as you all. I have T-Mobile and I’ve heard the tapping like someone is tapping on a table. Rhythmic. And when they stop talk it would stop sometimes. It was happening a lot when I would talk also. It’s been happening for over a year. I’ve gotten new phones and I’ve traded in phones. I have boost mobile now and for a while I thought it was ok. It had me hella paranoid cuz no one heard it so I bout another phone and would record calls to show people. The boost mobile phone didn’t today. I have an iPhone 13 and 2 iPhone 15s. They all do it. All different numbers. The iPhone 11 I just traded in for the 15 did not do it. So I’m assuming it has something to do with these newer models. If anyone have any help?

I just googled this after experiencing this for last year. I have iPhone 13 pro and most people I call I can hear what sounds like someone hammering in the background. Also, the people I am speaking with can't hear it, just me. They think I am crazy. Any luck on your end? I did see a reddit thread of other people having the same issue over a year ago. What provider do you have? I was Sprint, now T-Mobile.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra and hear the same sound. It started when I switched to TMobile from Verizon, but it's only with 1 person and not all the time, usually at night. He has an iPhone and Verizon. I don't know the specific iPhone. The sound is also different volumes. I tried screen recording our call so I could prove I wasn't going crazy and it didn't pick up any sound, just the screen. After reading all the comments here it feels good to know I'm not going crazy. It also doesn't happen when I talk to other iPhone/Verizon users. Are there any other people who have phones other than iPhones having the same issue?
