Knocking sound on iPhone calls

Why do you I hear a knocking on wood type of sound when I am on the phone with other iPhone users? Does anyone else have this problem? It is very annoying I tried iPhone reset and carrier and hardware and no luck

About a month since I switched to T-Mobile. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. It sounds like someone is knocking or lightly hammering something (tap, tap, tap, tap). It stops when someone talks, but if there’s any silence it happens consistently.

Just to keep this thread alive, I have the same issue with my iphone XR also with a t-mobile plan. Context: Just moved to the US and this wasn’t happening before with my other carrier in a different country. Description: knocking on background of calls to another iphone that the other person can’t hear. The tempo of knocks is consistent and they stop after 10 to 40 seconds, and come back a after a while. It’s annoying.

As almost all of you, I have a tmobile line, its looks to me like this is a carrier issue. By the way, as Mint’s service piggy backs connection from t-mobile infrastructure frequently (thats why they are so cheap) this might be why some Mint iphone users also experience the issue.

Ps: I noticed on some other threads back in 2015, that iphone 6 and 6S users with Verizon had a similar issue. No solution seems to have been found other than switching service, maybe we should do the same.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra and hear the same sound. It started when I switched to TMobile from Verizon, but it's only with 1 person and not all the time, usually at night. He has an iPhone and Verizon. I don't know the specific iPhone. The sound is also different volumes. I tried screen recording our call so I could prove I wasn't going crazy and it didn't pick up any sound, just the screen. After reading all the comments here it feels good to know I'm not going crazy. It also doesn't happen when I talk to other iPhone/Verizon users. Are there any other people who have phones other than iPhones having the same issue?

Same exact thing happening with me. The timbre/quality of the knocking seemed to change, sometimes getting more intense, but always the same tempo. Girlfriend can’t hear it on her side. Seemed to only happen when she was on speaker phone, so perhaps that’s something to troubleshoot? Girlfriend has an iphone. Mine is an iphone XR. Hope more people comment so this thread can get bigger and a solution can be found!

I have same issue and was sprint switched to T-Mobile after merge I have read this tread and due to my experiences with this noise/issue it has to be T-Mobile cause when it happens to me it doesn’t matter what carrier what type of phone or even if it’s a landline rather if I’m on speaker or if the other caller is on speaker I’m the only one hearing it, it may not be every call or all the time but I do experience it enough to realize T-Mobile has a problem with that and after reading everybody’s comments yes it is T-Mobile. Thank you for this tread so I too know I’m not crazy!
