Knocking sound on iPhone calls

Why do you I hear a knocking on wood type of sound when I am on the phone with other iPhone users? Does anyone else have this problem? It is very annoying I tried iPhone reset and carrier and hardware and no luck

So I’ve been having the same issue, I thought my friend I talk to all the time was doing major remodeling. Anyway, I also have Mint, so today I tried turning WiFi calling off and that seems to work, I’ve been on the phone for a few hours and the hammering is gone. Give it a try!

I did the same thing spent time with t mobile and went to an apple tech and said the device was fine and couldn’t figure it out. Seems there is no solution at this time but best thing that we know is it seems to be happening to a lot of people so it’s not just you.

Does anyone have this happening while on Verizon or another network provider?

I have tried Bluetooth through my car, AirPods, speaker and regular phone and happened with all three again I am with T Mobile this never happened when I was on Verizon. I feel if we all go to t mobile and reference this chat maybe they can see how many people are struggling with this issue and do something about it. I hope if anyone gets any feedback or solutions to please share with the group.

I have the same experience. My carrier is T Mobile and I thought it only happened when the person I was talking to was on speakerphone. However, I'm trying to isolate it; it also happens when I leave a VM. It's not a dirty screen or anything on my phone. It's a system problem. It's not a sharp knock. I also don't believe that it's due to a wiretap. The govt has better ways to do that without letting the user hear clunky noises in the background. I can do better than that by simply using one of off the shelf recording software available online.

I have had knocking noise with ATT, T-Mobile and now Mint. I noticed it a little over a year ago. It happens so frequently I feel like someone on the other end wants me to know they are listening. I keep my Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even internet off but it still happens. I’ve learned to live with it because I’ve waisted too much time at the Apple Store and with service providers. The only thing that bothers me most is when my screen goes back and it forces me to look at the camera before ir comes on although all settings are off. Apple seem to have no answers for that either. They had my phone for two weeks and the problem persist. Go figure.

I've also been experiencing this issue, without a doubt the sound is that of knocking on wood in a steady cadence. However I am using a google pixel 7 pro, and my carrier is google-fi. My girlfriend who is the only person im on the phone with often enough to have noticed this occurrence is on an iphone, i dont know which carrier. She heard the sound once, but it was likely an echo from it happening on my phone.

Commenting here just to keep the thread going. This has been happening to me for about a year now. I thought it was my previous iPhone, switched to the new 15, and same thing happens. I also have T-Mobile, and as someone that will be on a long phone call for work, it starts to drive me crazy after a while. I had previously contacted Apple support, and their suggestion was to try switching carriers, but based on this thread that I finally found, it's good to know I'm not alone, I'm not going crazy, and that it is fairly easy to trace back to T-Mobile. This needs to be fixed. If I didn't get such a good deal with T-Mobile, I would happily leave.
