Knocking sound on iPhone calls

Yes the 1 second ( approximately) knocking is crazy.

I seriously think we should petition T-Mobile on the issue.

I get a knocking on wood sound at night that purposely wakes me up multiple times. Apple Support had me turn on do not disturb and turn off all sounds for everything. This stopped the annoying wake up calls. I fell asleep one night without turning on do not disturb and was woken up by the same sound.How is someone able to harass this way what loop hole in Apple Security exists and why can’t they close it?

I have some suspicion that the knocking is associated with those of us users that were on the lower cost grandfathered accounts. I never encountered the issues until I re configured my total number of lines and feel like at that time, to preserve my rate, they moved me to a tier two of their network. I noticed I have 5G coverage often on this AT&T pay as you go account - and have never once seen 5G connection on my T-Mobile. I switched after having coverage issues in general that I was not able to successfully troubleshoot until I left the network.

mine sounds like someone is lightly banging a hammer which goes on for several seconds, then goes off, then back on again, but you never know when that annoying tapping sound is going to start. I have an appt. at Apple today 11/21/23 but there's no way of reproducing that sound so I believe they will NO be able to fix it.

I have been hearing a tapping sound for a long time now. I’m getting really tired of it. I will start with TMobile and complain. It is not the phone or an Apple problem but I might see what they tell me. I have been with T Mobile and Apple both a long time and never had this happen before! Don't want to change anything.

iPhone 13 Pro Max and TMobile

I am curious, is anyone also noticing they never are on 5G coverage? I’m on At&t pay as you go (planning to go back to my TMo plan so I am not double paying) and I can clearly see I have 5G in many areas and never saw 5G on the TMo on this same phone. When I go back to the account I will be asking them why the knocking and the lack of 5G impacts my account…

I have been on the phone for 1 hour to my mum and it happened several times a noise like chipping at a tree. I have an iPhone 15 pro max. My mum couldn’t hear it though. I also thought I was also going crazy?

Yes, I hear it. T-mobile is my carrier. Not 100% sure that it only happens with others with only iPhone. I’ll update after talking with Android users. It is very annoying! Will report to T-Mobile as well. I’m in a fairly rural area so thought was just here. So glad to find this forum !

Well this tech support guy from t mobile wrote up a ticket and sent it to engineers and went back and forth w/me and I think it might be fixed I haven’t heard knocking sounds for about 1-1/2 weeks so far

My phone does it too only when I call out I’m with t mobile as well. I have changed two different iPhones 14 pro max. It still is happening but u never know when very annoying especially since they can not fix it for whatever reason

This happens to me all the time, sometimes it’s really loud sometimes softer, faster, slower, I hear it when using my speaker but my friend hears me go out on her end, but when she talks it stops but will start up again. It’s so annoying, I feel like I’m being spied on. Sooo extremely annoying. Id love a solution. I’m with T-Mobile and I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I purchased an iPhone 15 Pro and switched to T-Mobile in December 2023. I also hear a knocking/hammering sound in the background of my calls that the other person can't hear. This sound gives me a migraine and I need to end the calls. I have just signed up for a three year plan and if T-Mobile can't fix this I am going to need to break the contract because I can't use my phone?

Any updates on a fix? I am on the phone with them right now and they are telling me that they have never heard this issue, which is all over this chat and Reddit.

It just started happening to me. It sounds like knocking or a dryer. I have the 12 Pro, but have had it for a year with T-Mobile. Also, having a problem with my texts.. i sent a text this morning and then called the person because it was showing it didnt go through. They said they had actually received it. Then someone sent me a text on Monday, if showed up tonight when she sent the evite text again. How do i fix the knocking. Very annoying!!!!!
