Some photos sent through airdrop don't show up on Google Photos

I have always been an android user, but about a year ago switched to apple. Ever since I have had the syncing of photos between apple and google on, which has worked fine.

Recently I transferred a large amount of photos through airdrop from my boyfriends iphone to my iphone. I then favourited these photos in apple photos. I just noticed though, that the photos are not showing up in my google photos favourites app. Upon further inspection, I realised that they're not showing up in google photos at all. I have used airdrop before with no issues.

I have tried "offloading" google photos and re-starting. I tried turning off and on the syn between the 2. I checked a different device, they're not there either. I have no issues with storage on Google or Iphone. No success. On iphone the photos mentioned are visible in both the recents tab as well as the all photos tab.

I really need the photos on the google app (more than I need them on apple photos) so would really appreciate any support.
