after IOS 16.2 for iPhone: Timestamps are not being deleted for Manually deleted messages.

Since i updated my phone from 16.2, I have noticed that message conversations now keep the time stamp of the deleted messages even after I permanently delete them manually. This was not the case on previous iOS 16 version nor is it the case on current iPad iOS version. Any thoughts… and just would like this fixed back to appropriate time stamp of last non deleted message in a given message conversation.

To reiterate, the respective timestamps for individual messages, are not being deleted when the message is deleted manually. This causes that conversation to remain at the top of the message list, when in fact it should move down below other conversations with more recent timestamps !

This is not an expected behavior for the user. When we erase a text message, in the message list we need the see the timestamp of the last message remanning in the conversation and not the timestamp of the erased message. Can you please listen to the users on this one? A lot of users complaining about this, this behavior have changed in 16.2 and it is super annoying.

It's now going on almost a year now, that this issue has not even been addressed, or even acknowledged !

Even after another major Update, 17.1, this problem still exists...

Timestamps for manually deleted messages are STILL NOT being deleted, which causes the

conversations to remain out of their correct chronological order...

Why is this simple fix not being implemented, after so many users have complained ?

Can Apple please at least acknowledge this issue ?

Thank You !!

I cannot reiterate enough, the support I have for the previous entry regarding this long, outstanding

issue... We all have submitted these valid complaints, and yet, they still fall on the deaf ears of Apple.

I don't know how much clearer that we can describe this exact failure of a previous update, and

that we don't even get the courtesy of an acknowledgement ...

Why is is so difficult to understand, that the related timestamps of the messages that we are manually

deleting, are NOT getting deleted, along with that message...

It's so obvious of an issue, and yet they try to pass it off as " expected behavior" ..

Maybe if they actually look at it, they won't be so quick to use that generic "copout" !!

C'mon Apple..

Can't you at least look at this for what it's worth, and see that it's a valid error, and probably an easy fix ??

This is definitely NOT expected behavior … This issue arose after

IOS 16.2, when this “behavior” started to occur. Prior to the updates after 16.2, the timestamps

for the respective individual messages within a thread would be deleted, when that message was deleted manually. This would allow

the conversations within the App to correctly align themselves, based on

the latest timestamp for the most current message. Instead of just writing this off as “expected behavior “, engineering needs to actually investigate this to see why it was functioning properly in 16.2, and then got “broke” in subsequent updates. The bottom line is, the respective time stamps are NOT being deleted for their respective messages, when those messages are manually deleted. I can’t put it much simpler than that.

Look at the code in 16.2 and see what changed ….

I can delete all the messages in a thread, without deleting the conversation, and that conversation will remain at the top of all the conversations. That’s just wrong.

As in Unexpected Behavior !!!

Apple enhanced it with a new update which in turn messed up what everyone is complaining about. She’s already suggested as well as myself and many others how to fix it. Doubt android phones have this “expected” behavior. Probably when they do something like this, they fix it while keeping their new features. Why don’t you pass on the word to get it fixed considered there’s been 12 updates with nothing done.
