utility (CD/DVD) Drive not recognized.

Why won''t my mac mini or any of my Apple laptops recognize my utility (CD/DVD) Drive? Does this mean it doesn't work any more or could it be that the last time I used it was with an older computer with an older operating version?

MacBook Air won't recognize external Apple CD drive I just upgraded to a MacBook Air (Aug 23) and it is not recognizing my Apple CD drive. A CD will not insert into the drive, it pops back out. I have it attached to a USB-USC adaptor, and other items plugged into it are working. I have tried: switching to a different port, changing which USC device goes in which port on the computer.

Help! iMac M3 will not recognize CD-ROM drives Have a week old iMac M3. Will not recognize any CD-ROM player. Seems that apple is abandoning the "old technology" of CD. Support confirms that. Has anyone found a workaround for this? PLEASE, no rehashing of what should be done in settings for prior iMac's. They are all set correctly, yet even support cannot help. This is going to leave tens of thousands of us with no access to our cd's. Not right Apple!!

If you mean a SuperDrive, it has to be plugged directly into a port, not a hub. You may need a USB to USB-C adapter.
