I recently had the terrible experience of losing my phone while abroad in Europe. I’m a Verizon customer. I still had 7 days in Europe so it was recommended to me to buy a fully unlocked iPhone in Poland as it would easily connect to Verizon upon return to the US… Verizon can’t figure out how to do this though. Is Apple able to provide a new SIM card to connect to Verizon’s network?

AFAIK, Apple only sells "unlocked" phones in the U.S. The fact that Verizon is puzzled on how to activate for their service would be a clue that it was not actually unlocked.
One simple check is to go to Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock. Unless it says "No SIM restrictions" is it locked to a carrier.
Ok, well maybe Apple upped what countries can now sell unlocked iPhones ... so, I believe I learned something new today ... thanks!

I made sure it said no SIM restrictions as soon as I opened it. Didn’t even leave the store because I would’ve returned it. Verizon still can’t figure it out.
