Bug in Preview 11.0 (1044.2)

The current Preview app won't open photos on my 27" iMac without producing a blue screen within the apps window. When I try to open a photo the image will display for a split second then it turns all blue. I think it might have something to do with its default color profile after upgrading from Monterey because if I go to Tools>Assign Profile and select my defaulted display profile I can get the opened photo to display the image, but I have to do that twice to make it happen. Doing it only 1 time won't. I can make it display properly doing it twice, but then if I go to resize the window after it turns blue again.

Create and log into a new, basic, admin user account, Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac and see if the problem persists. This tells us if the problem is limited to your user account or is system wide.

Note:  do not launch any 3rd party apps in the account so as to not install any of the supporting files that most create.

If the problem isn't present then your original account has software installed that is causing the problem.

Yours is the very first and only time I have heard about this.

Maybe it’s a bug, but if it is, it’s probably one that is triggered by some very specific circumstances.

It seems far more likely to me that it’s something particular to your setup.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

Adding that plist file didn't help so I went ahead and downgraded back to Monterey and everything is working again and guess what? That plist file doesn't exist on Monterey either so Apple must have done away with it in favor of something else at some point.

Also, there is another thread below about the issues with Preview so somehow it did get broken in Ventura so I'm not the only one.

I’ve tried all of that even creating another account and still get the same result. It has to be a bug. Others have reported the same type of thing. I’ve read around some of the other topics where people are having the same or a very similar issue. It might have something to do with upgrading from Monterey, but thats just a guess.

Thats just one and there other posts around the web talking about the same blue screen. I get that blue screen on every photo I try to open.

FWIW, there is nothing about blue screens in the link you posted.

Then here is one on Apple below about the blue screen.
