Bluetoothd Process Memory Leak

Hi,

When I keep my computer on for a longer period of time, I have noticed on more than one occasion that the memory that the "bluetoothd" process will consume will exceed 30 GB at times (although forcing the process to quit will resolve this issue). Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or if there are any pointers on how to go about this issue?

Thanks!

Does the memory graph leave the green zone into the red when this happens?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac, reboot normally and test to see if the problem persists.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

The same issue exists on macOS 13.3.1 (22E261), with memory usage of the process bluetoothd continue to grow and can easily cross 4 GBs. Restart or kill the process will temporarily solve the problem yet the it will occur again in no more than a day. User on reddit has cofirmed that the same issue would occur on safe mode. https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/11ad7i5/anyone_else_having_bluetoothd_memory_leak/
