edited draft email not sent

I opened a draft email on my iphone, edited, reviewed, and sent it. There is now an *unedited* version in my drafts folder, and the sent email is not showing up in the sent folder. The “whoosh” sound occurred as I sent the email.

I am freaking out! Because of course, this wasn’t sending a recipe, it was a follow-up letter after an important interview! And I don’t know if I can recreate my perfectly-crafted version, and I don’t want to send it twice if it did send.

I went into my icloud account on a browser, and the email wasn’t in that sent folder. Where is it?!

If you are unsure if an email sent, there are a few things to try:

Check the system status of iCloud Mail.
Check that you turned on iCloud Mail:

On your Mac, open the Mail app then choose Mail >Preferences. Click Accounts, then select your iCloud account in the sidebar. Under Account Information, make sure that the account is turned on and the status is online.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check that Mail is turned on.

Make sure you that haven't exceeded your iCloud storage limit. If you exceed your iCloud storage limit, learn how to make more space available in iCloud.
Make sure that you're using the latest version of software on your device. " If iCloud Mail isn't working - Apple Support

I don’t like this answer. The asker wants to know what happened to the email they sent, whether or not it actually went through, because it DISAPPEARED.

This happened to me, too, and I know it was never sent because I had sent it to myself, and never received it. It was the Gmail email server, and the email was nowhere to be found in the Gmail client, either.
