icloud drive won't sync

Icloud drive in windows 10 won't sync. When I log on to my online account, my Icloud Drive data is different than the files on my windows computer. I almost lost an important file due to sync issues.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mrdanj,

We understand how important it is to ensure your files are safe. Apple recently released a note about iCloud Drive syncing in iCloud for Windows. If you aren't seeing files in iCloud Drive on the iCloud website that you can see on your PC, check the file path to see if it's too long.

If files in Windows won't sync to iCloud Drive because the path is too long - Apple Support

In iCloud for Windows 10 or earlier, a file name or path that is too long stops all files in that folder from syncing to iCloud Drive. To make sure your other files continue to sync to iCloud Drive, download the latest version of iCloud for Windows.

iCloud for Windows used to work and worked great for many years- so the file path is Not too long and none of the file names are too long as well. iCloud worked great since I began using Windows 10 back in 2017. All my files always synced up great - I was forced to use Windows 10 when I went back to school and surprisingly, I liked Windows 10. My refurbished MacBook Pro finally bit the dust after 6 years of faithful service and buying a new Apple computer was not in the budget so I had to use Windows 10 exclusively.

I thought the issue is that maybe Windows needed to be reinstalled again - trouble in paradise. I attempted to fix the issue by downloading the latest version of iCloud for Windows after reinstalling Windows 10. Same problem with syncing. If I can't get it to work I will be forced to go in a different direction. So if you have any other suggestions I am all ears.
