Safari 16.4 sluggishly opens and takes time to load interface on MacBook Pro, Mac OS 12.6.3.
Every time it launches, all icons, search bars etc. gradually appear. It is as if it's a brand-new copy.
Immediately before the above problem occurred, I had to clear all history and cookies to remove ghost audio which probably was linked to YouTube!
Can someone please help?

Unfortunately the problem wasn't resolved!
It was still taking time to load! However, I happened to move the Safari window slightly and behind it there were dozens and dozens of old open windows!!
So I've just spent 20-minutes going through and deleting them.
Apologies for my other replies above! This is the final reply. Everything is ok now, as long as the windows do not build up again!

I suggest doing a Safe Boot with AdGuard off to see if that speeds things up.
Was AdGuard the only Extension?
The other suggestion is to download EtreCheck and post the report. You will have to use the Additional Text button when uploading as it is usually longer than the standard character limit.
Once again, Mac Jim, thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately they did not work.
I was about to use EtreCheck but as I was using Mac OS Monterey, and have been wanting to update the software, it gave me the excuse to go ahead and install Ventura.
Now the problem has been resolved :)

Yes, I have AdGuard installed, but when I saw your reply I turned off AdGuard, shut down then reopened Safari a couple of times – still the problem exists! I hope you have another suggestion?
