Apple Pay MacBook Pro double click to pay locks the computer

I had this issue and found a page on Stack Exchange that resolves it. Go to System Settings > Touch ID & Passwords and toggle Use Touch ID for Apple Pay off, then back on. You'll need to re-enter your admin password when turning it back on.

Yep, this exact same thing happens to me as well! I haven't found a solution, but you're not alone.

Looks like the same issue. Only started recently but whenever I try to use ApplePay in Safari instead of presenting the TouchID fingerprint icon it asks me to "Double Click Touch ID to Pay" with a weird keyboard icon.

I don't have Apple Pay enabled on my iPhone (where i do use biometrics and agree they are much more secure).

As for my macbook, I don't use it around other people and it doesn't leave my home. There are other minor personal/use reasons but that's the deciding factor.

I assume the experts base their recommendation on thinking people will want to use their device around others and people reuse and create simplistic passcode/words. But i'm happy to hear other possible reasons.

Same here- You know what has happened to Apple? I almost think I have drifted into a parallel universe and Apple has switch places with Microsoft! :P

same thing happens to me with Apple Pay. Can’t use it.

I do not use TouchID on my macbook but get the same icon and message and am not able to "double click".

I don’t have a solution, but I’m curious why you don’t use Touch ID? Security experts and Apple consider Biometrics much more secure than a passcode.

It’s really a shame Apple products have almost become unusable at times. From AppleTV freezing to bugs and bugs. I should NOT have to restart the computer. Get your act together, Apple!
