I mostly use safari, last few days safari is pausing youtube videos while I seek through cursor. But when I am using chrome or other browser it's not happening at all. So, What should I do now to fix this problem.
Yes! once you mute the video this functionality returns to normal (you can seek with tap) and even when you unmute it, but only on this video. When you go to another video it's stop workin again, but if you mute and unmute again it works, and this is workaround for each video you visit. Mute and Unmute. Also if you use click on trackpad (if you on MacBook or on Mac with trackpad) instead of tap it works without muting unmuting.
I solved with Safari-->Settings -->Security --> and from this panel I deactivated and Activated again JavaScript
I tried creating a new user account, and the issue does NOT happen on the new account.
I disabled all Safari extensions but that did not help.
I'm having this same behavior on Mac using Safari. I noticed that if I click on the video playback position and drag it to the position I want in the video then it does not pause the playing video but I just click on the position where I want it to play with a single click the the video pauses. I hope it helps.
No. I reset Safari, deleted everything, cache, cookies, and all the stuff in Terminal that is usually suggested to reset Safari, uninstalled all extensions, but it didn't help. A new user account doesn't have this issue. But migrating all my data is too much hassle for this, I'd rather just switch to using Chrome (which does not have this issue).
Same problem here, it started a few weeks ago when I set the AutoPlay settings for YouTube to "never autoplay", then set it back to "allow all autoplay". It seems this triggered the bug but I have not been able to fix it. YouTube videos don't always pause when seeking, but they do so most of the time. Videos on other websites work fine. The issue happens in Safari, but not in Chrome. I have restarted and cleared caches, it has not helped.
I also have this problem. Also, YouTube Shorts automatically pauses every other vid. That is, every other Short requires me to click on the "play" triangle in the upper left-hand corner. This is only happening with Safari on macOS. Chrome on macOS, as well as Safari on iPad, both work correctly.
I am convinced this issue has something to do with audio settings. But I've not put my finger on exactly what. My problem showed up after I paired a set of Apple AirPods Max headphones. But after a recent macOS update/reboot the problem seems to have resolved itself.
Also have this problem, noticed that rewind works fine using left or right button. Somehow (rare) if I click on cashed part of the video it starts normally.
This works fine for me if youtube is mute. But mute and then unmute doesn't work. The problem persists while on unmute.
