As of this date, Apple does not have a resolution for this issue. Ensure that you contact them directly in order for them understand this issue is affecting many users.

Get the Word Out:

Quite frankly, I never really use Maps. Digging deep into this, I do not see it there, myself. So, do as I’ve recommend all along: Report this as a Bug to Apple: See my pervious reply.

Based on Perianal Experience.

For the past few weeks, Apple is pretty inclined to contact others regarding this situation. So, leave them feedback, seeing if they get back to you firsthand.

I had the same problem that my favorite window is gone. After talking to Apple Japan several times, the last guy suggested me to add any of my histories to Favorites. BINGO! My favorite window appeared again with the one added address. Hopefully, your lost guides may appear again.

I also complain first 3 guys didn't propose any effective advice, instead, some of them proposed to contact the device company with CarPlay feature, in my case it was Toyota. It is always not easy to solve the problem, when two parties are involved.

I was just lucky to had a contact with an Apple guy, who searched many places to solve the problem.

I still prefer Apple products. Long time Mac user for more than 30 years in Japan.

I had many conversations with Apple during the first week of April, when I lost all my map destinations while on a cross country trip. As of this week they have not fixed the problem. Anytime you restart the phone all favorites are lost unless you have them backed up on Apple’s cloud. Obviously Apple does not care. Just switch to Google maps.

a new glitch - Reminders no longer alert you even though all the settings tell it too. There is an old programmer’s axiom; “Every attempt to repair program bugs will result in a net INCREASE in the number of bugs.” I think Apple (and most programming) has reached that point.

You know what Karla, my Reminders stopped notifying me too! I had done nothing within the settings. However, I received a message saying “You will not receive notifications from Reminder”, or something along those lines.

So had to go to: Settings > Reminders > Notifications, and then I had to turn on “Allow Notifications!”

And it’s not only Guides; it’s everything! Recents, Favourites, Guides, etc. Apple Maps is polished clean after whatever this is is done with it.

In my experience, simply restarting the device causes Maps to be polished like silverware. But I’m not sure if this happens to everyone who has this issue.

Yes, it’s happened twice now. I thought I did something at first until I re-entered my patients addresses and they all got deleted again. It’s sucks bc I drive as a hospice social worker and trying to log into our system while away from WiFi doesn’t always price to be time efficient and I noticed it when I needed to know how to get to a home.

I hope they figure out something soon.

Ive got a little trick!

this has happened to me so many times, I've stopped counting. I have no idea how I get so lucky to have them come back because by the responses I've read, not everyone is as lucky as I am..

This is what has worked for me:

--Do everything everyone has already said with pushing volume UP, DOWN, then hold volume up + lock button to turn the phone off on some kind of "system reset"

--Once the phone is back on, make sure you are properly logged into your iCloud, go to settings, your name, iCloud, and make sure Maps is toggled on to be using iCloud.

--Delete the Apple Maps and reinstall in from the App Store.

**This did the trick the FIRST time.

HOWEVER. Not always. What I recommend MORE THAN ANYTHING is to share the guide (or guides) with yourself via email so that when this happens again, you can click the link from the email and in my experience, maps then gets triggered and gets its **** together.

**To do so, when you are on maps and you scroll down to see your guide, slide to the left and use the share button to either email or copy (and paste in an email).

If you are able to get your guides back with the first few steps-- hallelujah!

But if you have to restart your guide, keep this in mind for when you add more to the guide with time, since I am unsure of how the guide will populate after clicking the emailed link. It may only bring back the guides that were saved at the time of sharing them with yourself.

I try to remember to email it to myself once a month or two since this happens to me too frequently and I use them as I travel for work.

Hope This Helps-- Best of Luck!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing!

I know another user in a different thread said something along the same lines; although they suggested storing the Guides in Notes.

However, your contribution is still very welcome and appreciated.

What you could do, is start a new thread, with a well-chosen title, such as: “Deleted Guides in Maps: SOLVED!” and just copy-paste your post above.

And that’s about the most you can do in ASC.

Thanks again!

Lost all mine too, woke up this morning to find all 185 work locations had vanished. Tried everything it said online but all failed. Software was 16.1.1 at time of incident. Updated phone to 16.6 and all is fixed. Weren’t on the work postcodes guide I had made but found them if you click on your initials top right corner in maps and then click on guides and they were under all places. From there you can select all and re add them to your selected guide
