Also, Aboelens12!

This is a reply from this thread, by another user who also had this issue, and they claim these steps fixed the issue for them:

“THIS WORKED FOR ME:

from chdjparadise1 Apr 19, 2023

Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, and make sure that the toggle next to Maps is turned on. If it is turned off, turn it on and wait for a few minutes to see if your favorites and guides reappear...On my settings the toggle button was set to on. So, what I did was toggled the Maps off then back on waited a minute then launched the Apple Maps app and all My Guides reappeared.…”

Good Luck!

Hello Lillsterxo!

I know Google Maps is a very good choice. Other users in this thread have referred to Waze, but I have zero experience nor knowledge with and about that app. Another “map app” which seems decent, (but offers In-App Subscriptions for all the “good stuff,”) is Sygic. The link to this app may or may not be removed. I suggest you check these suggestions out, and pick what you like.

But, I’m not sure if these other apps have the ability to save guides, like Apple Maps. It may be a feature only Apple Maps has at this point. However, if you do find something, feel free to share it with everyone here.

Have a wonderful day! 😊

I had many conversations with Apple during the first week of April, when I lost all my map destinations while on a cross country trip. As of this week they have not fixed the problem. Anytime you restart the phone all favorites are lost unless you have them backed up on Apple’s cloud. Obviously Apple does not care. Just switch to Google maps.
a new glitch - Reminders no longer alert you even though all the settings tell it too. There is an old programmer’s axiom; “Every attempt to repair program bugs will result in a net INCREASE in the number of bugs.” I think Apple (and most programming) has reached that point.

You know what Karla, my Reminders stopped notifying me too! I had done nothing within the settings. However, I received a message saying “You will not receive notifications from Reminder”, or something along those lines.

So had to go to: Settings > Reminders > Notifications, and then I had to turn on “Allow Notifications!”

Yes, it’s happened twice now. I thought I did something at first until I re-entered my patients addresses and they all got deleted again. It’s sucks bc I drive as a hospice social worker and trying to log into our system while away from WiFi doesn’t always price to be time efficient and I noticed it when I needed to know how to get to a home.

I hope they figure out something soon.

Thank you for the response TheLittles!

However, I’m unsure of wether you understood my question.

From participating in the Community, I know that you provide this answer to users that have lost their built-in Apple Apps from their Home Screen.

But in my case, Maps has disappeared from my “Manage Account Storage” page in Settings. (See the screenshot above.)

Having made this clear, would you still recommend factory resetting iPhone, and restoring it? Or should I Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support for further assistance?

Thank you in advance.

Someone from Apple did actually call me, and said they saw my post here! I hope those who said the same thing has happened to them have also been contacted! Though sadly I don’t see a fix for this happening, at least not any time soon. I have noticed every time I shut down my phone anything I saved in maps disappears. Some kind of glitch that does need to be fixed though.

I’ve accepted the data can’t be recovered, though still mourning the loss a bit. I’m sorry this happened to you too if you had lots of guides/locations saved over the years! It plain sucks.

However I personally would still press the issue because (for myself) I have noticed that anytime I power down my phone any locations and directions I’ve searched, saved a location to favorites, it still all wipes from my phone. 😠

Not that I even want to try to rebuild the extensive years old guides I had, but even if I did it would still be wiped from my phone, so I would hope Apple will find a fix for this to prevent it from continuously happening.
