Delete photo in iPhoto does it delete it in an iMovie?

My daughter was in charge of making a slide show for her school and I now have hundreds of photos of the students (3 for each) in my iPhoto library. She wants to keep the iMovie but I'd like to delete the photos from our iPhoto library. If I delete them in iPhoto will they remain in the iMovie she made?

If she saved the slideshow outside of the library as a movie file then you can delete the photos from your library.

If the slideshow in the library is the only copy of it then deleting the photos from the library will remove them from the slideshow.

If you delete a picture from Photos (command-delete), it goes to Recently Deleted for 30 days. If you change your mind within the 30 days you can click on the pictures and choose "Recover." They go back where they came from.

So, if you have doubts, just try deleting the pictures and, if a movie or whatever is affected, you can just undo it.

Alternatively, just put all those pictures in an album, label it, and forget about it.

Next time, start a new Library just for your daughter--close Photos, then option-click the Photos icon and "Create New."
