MS Word does not maintain hyperlinks when a pdf is made

Following up on the previous thread - when will this basic functionality be fixed on Mac? It's worked seamlessly on PCs for years. Please help! I have a new mac with a current OS and MS Office suite. This glitch brings me back 25 yrs when PC and Macs didn't yet have a seamless interface.

When reading these documents you may want to highlight/underline texts but as soon as you try to select them you're prompted to open the hyperlink in safari. iMac Mid 2011 OS - High Sierra won't allow me to open certain links/attachments. OK on all other devices. I cannot open an attachment from paperlesspost on my iMac. Also, I cannot open a link I was sent to e-sign a document. Other similar examples where i just see a spinning circle after entering correct username and PW credentials. I ONLY have this problem on the iMac. Everything works as it should on my MacBook pro, iPhone and iPad. It doesn't matter what browser I use... the problem remains. So confused as to why this is happening. Please assist if you can. Thanks

Microsoft Word is reopening documents that I've already closed when I respond "SAVE" to a dialog box. But MY WORK IS NOT SAVED. Using Microsoft Word's most recent update (Nov 2023) on a MacBook Air using OS Sonoma 14.1... I can manually save changes in my Word document and the changes appear to be saved. The problem only occurs when I try to CLOSE the document. Then -- even though I've already saved my changes -- a dialog box appears saying I need to save my changes or lose them. The other options are "Don't Save" or "Cancel". So, I press "SAVE" and the document appears to close BUT IT REOPENS. Every time I retry the sequence I get the same result. I cannot close the document. And if I were to press "DONT SAVE" (just to be able to close the document), then none of my changes are saved, even though they appear to have been saved while I was editing it.

When you save that Word (e.g. 16.71) document as a PDF, you must select the following to preserve the hyperlink in the PDF:

If you choose Best for printing, no hyperlink is created and you have just underlined text where the hyperlink was expected.
