Logging on to new MacBook Air M2

I’ve just been setting up the new MacBook , I’ve transferred the info from the old MacBook. Now I can’t log onto the new one using the same password as the older one. Won’t give me the option to change password either. I’m totally stuck

Opening Refurbished 2017 MacBook Air Apple Store Genius Bar helped me transfer data from older MacBook Pro to my refurbished 2017 MacBook Air. When I tried to open the MacBook Air it wants an Apple password that I don’t know. How do I get it to recognize me?
