My husband and I bought AirTags to put on our animal’s collars so we can keep track of them in case one accidentally got out. I couldn’t find my cat the other day and my husband wasn’t home and the AirTag is connected to his ID so I had to bother him at work just to find out my cat found a new hiding spot while barely giving me a heart attack. Is there any good reason why we can’t share the AirTag together or any plans to remedy this in the future?

Probably some technical reason behind how Apple IDs and Find My work, but Apple has not disclosed it.

Unknown. Apple has said nothing about it. You can offer feedback to Apple about it directly, and if enough people do, they may decide to make them shareable in some way in the future.
