iPhone camera icon has disappeared
My camera icon has disappeared. I have tried going to the App Library as suggested, but it’s not there either

if you scroll through all of your home screens 'till the last screen which is "App Library" the screen where apps are layed out in groups of four ... look in the utilities group then move it from there as you would any other to your preferred spot ...
Really mysterious. Try resetting your Home Screen Layout.
Go to: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Home Screen Layout
If the Camera app did not appear after this, try a Forced Restart.
1. Press and quickly release Volume Up
2. Press and quickly release Volume Down
3. Press and hold the Side Button, the phone will restart. Release when you see the Apple Logo.
While holding the Side Button, your iPhone will go to the Shutdown Menu, ignore it and continue to hold the Side Button until your iPhone turns off. Release only when you see the Apple Logo.
Once the phone has started, see if the Camera app has returned. If it's still not there, I'm afraid you'll need to restore your iPhone to factory settings. But try the other two tips first.
The camera app cannot be deleted from your iPhone, but it can be restricted so that it cannot be opened.
If you can't find the app in the App Library or by searching for it, go to:
Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Allowed Apps → activate Camera.
Hey Thanks again,
i tried something stupid and it worked. I asked Siri. He said you don't appear to have the app, have you tried the app store. Not hopeful, it tried app store anyway, it it said "OPEN" as in the app is already there. So I did and the camera opened. I could then find it in my app library and add it to my home screen. Sometimes it helps to think like a bad programmer :) Thanks again.
Good catch Carlofromlondon! I found my camera app in the ”Creativity” folder then was able to move it to a Home Screen :)
While I believe JS-fromDK's advice on resetting your Home Screen layout is sound, I would point out that it will completely obliterate any folders you've created. All of your icons will be on the home screens. If you don't have very many apps, this may not be a concern. Or, regardless, it may be worth it. But, fair warning.
I'd do the Forced Restart first.
Yes, sometimes it takes the strangest things to make things work. But it worked out well.
I should have mentioned that Reset Home Screen Layout resets your Home Screen Layout, as IdrisSeabright writes it will, this I'm sorry about - glad you didn't need to do this.
You're welcome 😊
Hey thanks for your reply and information. I understand that it cannot actually be deleted, but when I do the Siri search in my case I do not get Camera. Ca will give me Calendar and Calculator but no camera. Likewise when I search the app library I fail to locate the camera app. I followed your instructions on Privacy restrictions, but Camera was already enabled. I suspect I have something of a corner case :(

That's indeed weird. I'll have to try to remember your solution for the future. Thanks for letting us know what worked.
I have the same. iPhone 13 iOS 17.3 - latest at the moment.
camera has gone completely
fron home screen, App Library and Settings
only reference to ‘camera’ in settings search are allow access to camera for some apps like WhatsApp, instagram etc - access allowed, toggling does not help. That apps reporting “please allow access to the camera in Settings
Mistery . Hard reset did not help
can it be a hardware failure?
