The Camera app is not one of the apps that can be deleted but it can be removed from the home screen. Go to the App Library (swipe left past your last home screen). From there you can touch and hold an app and slide it to the home screen.

Also note the Search window at the top of the App Library.

I found the camera icon. It's in a window headed 13m, which I assume is minutes of usage, as below a graph are times noted for creativity, utilities, and social. Below that are icons for photos, messages, app store, and camera. Tapping on the camera and sliding it right moved the entire window to the top of the home screen. The camera icon would not slide to the home screen. Touching it offered 3 choices: edit widget, Edit home screen, or Remove widget. And now I can't swipe the window left to the library.
