I have been a HP User with Word. Is there an "instant" button to save as you go on a "pages" document?

There is no requirement to perform any manual save. Documents in most apps are saved automatically.
The last saved location is just an artifact of the save panel preferences.

Pages saves all changes automatically.
Alternatively, submit a request for a feature to perform autosave or an instant save button
