Hi,

You do not say for which Mac operating system version. Your profile indicates macOS 10.14 Mojave. Is this what you are using?

Brother has printer and scanner drivers for up to macOS 10.15 Catalina.

Please select the appropriate system version. Sometimes, a macOS 10.15 driver can be used for a few later versions as well, but that would be experimental.

If necessary, a paid third-party scanner driver product appears to support your printer:

That printer supports AirPrint. Use that. You don’t need add-on drivers, the drivers are built into the printer.

Connect an AirPrint printer to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

Here’s the old setup manual for that printer for iPhone. Mac now has AirPrint support.

For the scanner, most Brother multi-function printers from the past dozen years or so has TWAIN, and this printer has TWAIN.

macOS supports TWAIN scanners without needing add-ons, using the Image Capture app.

Here are the manuals for that printer:

And as mentioned above, the Brother add-on printing and scanning apps should also work.

Which Brother printer model? (Brother has lots of models, etc.)

Connected via USB or Wi-Fi? (Wi-Fi is preferred.)

Does it print? (If it does print, it’s probably not a communications error.)

Does it support TWAIN? (TWAIN means not needing another app.)

Have you tried using Image Capture app? (Different scanning apps can have different failures.)
